Gabriel Mwangi is a Partner in the Dispute Resolution Practice Group. He specializes in civil and commercial litigation, arbitration and mediation including banking and finance law, employment law, defamation law, professional negligence, constitutional law and judicial review, public procurement law, land and environmental law.

In the course of his disputes practice over the years, Gabriel has been privileged to contribute to celebrated Kenyan jurisprudence in diverse practice areas. Most recently, his arguments at the appellate stage shaped the post-Dina Management jurisprudence on competing ownership claims to property. This was in the Court of Appeal judgment in Frank Logistics v Golden Lion Real Estate Limited & ors Civil Appeal E303 of 2024, delivered in September 2025.

Beyond his legal practice, Gabriel leads the Firm’s business development team as well as the pupillage & internships committee. In these capacities, he is responsible for making the Firm attractive to two segments of the market, namely, clients as the consumers of the Firm’s services, and talented students as the future providers of those services.

Gabriel was admitted to the Bar in the year 2012, having joined the Firm in September 2010 as an intern and undertaken his pupillage thereafter. He holds an undergraduate law degree from the University of Nairobi and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law. He also previously obtained a diploma in the French language from the Alliance Française in Nairobi and subsequently published two books in French, a collection of short stories & a short novel, for use in French language instruction in secondary schools. Gabriel is currently undertaking a Master’s in Applied Philosophy & Ethics from Strathmore University. At present, his research interests revolve around the role, influence and limits of artificial intelligence in moral and legal reasoning.

In the year 2025, he was honoured to be nominated as Litigation Practitioner of the Year, as well as Lawyer of the Year, in the Nairobi Legal Awards by the Law Society of Kenya’s Nairobi Branch.

Additionally, according to client feedback that was collected by Chambers & Partners for the 2026 Dispute Resolution rankings in Kenya, Gabriel was reported to have very strong client service, commercial vision, a high level of sophistication and his advice and consultation were particularly important and impressive.

Before studying law, Gabriel performed on stage at the national and other theatres around the country in stage plays and musicals. In practicing law, the courtroom is his stage where he finds the drama of humanity surpasses the creativity of the playwright’s pen.
